Do you want to...
Your voice is welcome here! (No matter your level of experience)
Come and join in a gathering of women* who love to sing! This group is about awakening our voices through singing songs that ignite something in us, soothe us, speak to our experience.
Learn how connecting with empowering songs, being aware of what moves and inspires you, and deep connection in your body within a supportive group can literally transform your voice. (Into what it already is and is meant to be!)
Using the process of tuning in using all our senses, with awareness of our bodies, we give ourselves the time and space to listen and look more deeply, slowly and with love at how we use our voice- ease tensions, release negative beliefs and unlock the pleasure of letting it flow!
I'm not sure i can sing at all, is this for me?
Yes! In the Natural Voice Network we say that 'singing is your birthright', and something humans have used as daily practice for millennia. It is only in the last few hundred years that Western culture has created a split between performer and audience. Many cultures still practice this life-giving tradition of singing together. The more you sing for your own pleasure, the more pleasurable it will be! The warming up and tuning in process I teach will help you to ease into your natural voice.
I'm already pretty comfortable with my voice. Is this for me?
Yes! I have been singing professionally for over 20 years and just this year I have unlocked so much more joy and self awareness and purpose for my voice. (which is why I want to share it with you!) We are continuously learning with the voice, there is always something new to discover.
I am comfortable singing on my own, but wish I could be more confident singing in front of other people.
Our voice is the expression of who we are- to sing from the heart and soul can be a scary thing when we imagine potential judgement that can come from other people (and most of us have had the unfortunate experience of our voices being judged by others who have learned to judge themselves, and have been taught a narrow view of what a good voice is).
I can teach you how to stay connected to your own experience when singing, which will bring you so much more joy- and, ironically, make you sound ‘better’ to other people!
*Women includes Trans women! Non-Binary folks and Trans men are also welcome if comfortable in an environment that centers the voices and experiences of women.
BIPOC Rate
There is a reduced fee for those who are BIPOC/BAME in recognition of the rich body of music from these cultures that is the foundation of so much of the music that is sung in choirs, and has been such an important part of my development. Historically, the musicians who created this music have been underpaid or unpaid, and the music has been used without permission and misrepresented. Resound is committed to making reparations in this area and supporting BIPOC singers and singing leaders.
